About UsGus was born in 1923 in the quaint village of Daphne, Greece. He was only a young boy when his parents passed away leaving him to fend for his five siblings.
Gus aspired for more and in 1953 he fulfilled his lifelong dream of moving to America. It was here where he married Clara Fokakis and together they raised three children; George, Thrace and Lisa-Leigh. The family opened Gus' Sir Beef in 1969 serving up fresh farm vegetables and Gus' own delicious recipes including his famous fried squash. Gus' soon became famous throughout the Charlotte area for its "fresh my farm" vegetables, home cooked meals, and family atmosphere. On August 1, 2000 the Bacogeorge family returned to their original location at 4101 Monroe Road. The family is pleased to continue serving their neighbors & friends offering only the finest food they are famous for.
